Making cycling accessible to all

Picture of a group of cyclists in the park.Pedal Power is the working name of The Friends of Pedal Power Project. We are a charity (Registered Number: 1092304) whose Mission is "to make cycling accessible to all". Friends of Pedal Power Project Ltd is a not for-profit company registered at Companies House (Company Number 4373456). Revenues from the company are ploughed back into the charity.

We also receive grants from many organisations. Two recent Awards are from the People's Postcode Trust and The Rank Foundation..

logo PPT People’s Postcode Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. Our project received £3181 from the Trust to buy three electric bikes and an electric trike.

Pedal Power is home to one of the best accessible cycling centres in the UK. We operate out of two centres, one near the city centre and one in Cardiff Bay.

We have an extensive range of different cycles for hire, from standard bikes and tandems and specially designed tricycles for all abilities and ages.  This enables virtually anybody to enjoy cycling.

We offer a full assessment service to members in order to find you the perfect cycle for your needs. Unfortunately, we cannot hire out the adapted cycles without the disabled person being assessed, nor are they normally available to the general public. However, it is possible to hire a side-by-side at the weekend if there is one available

We run a cycle hire service open to the public 7 days a week in Pontcanna, Bay opening hours are more variable. We have gent's bikes, ladies' bikes, kid's bikes of all sizes, as well as a range of baby seats, buggies and tag along bikes. We also offer a full range of cycle maintenance services. .

For those looking for something a bit different we have go carts, and pedal cars which can take up to six people available from our Cardiff Bay centre.

We also offer bicycle tours both locally and long distance tours.

Spokes Café is available for drinks and meals. It is open between 10:00 and 15.00 during the week and between 08:00 and 12.00 at weekends. We are a BT Openzone hotspot and existing cuctomers will be able to connect. We will soon have vouchers for sale that will eanble others to connect too

Finally, we offer a range of courses and one off sessions from total beginner to the advanced skills required to cycle safely in traffic. We specialise in delivering cycle training courses to people who may feel that cycling presents them with a wider range of challenges than most.
