Sea to Sea Wales

Day One

Travel from Cardiff to Holyhead by mini bus following the route you will take back down. An opportunity to meet the team who will be supporting you and meet your fellow cyclists and gain advice and information for the tour.

Day Two – 40 miles

Holyhead to Caernarfon. This is an easy day’s cycling to start getting you bike fit for the rest of the tour. This will be a leisurely ride allowing riders to explore Caernarfon and perhaps visit the mightiest castle in Wales which is a clear statement from Edward 1st now classed as a world heritage site. http://www.castlewales.com/caernarf.html

Day Three – 30 miles

Caernarfon to Harlech. Upping the pace a bit riding through spectacular scenery passing through Porthmadog with an opportunity to visit the internationally renowned Portmerion Village. http://www.portmeirion-village.com/

Day Four – 40 miles

Harlech to Machynlleth. A strenuous day’s ride through Barmouth and Dolgellau passing very close to Cader Idris. For those feeling fit enough, an opportunity will be available for those wanting to walk up the mountain (truly stunning views). http://www.snowdoniaguide.com/cader_idris.html

Day Five – 45 miles

Machynlleth to Rhayader. Two routes are available for cyclists (a slightly longer ride avoiding a long steep ride). However the steep ride takes in arguably the most wonderful views of the majority of Wales! With views of Cader Idris, Llyn Peninsula, Snowdonia Massif, Berwyns and even the Brecon Beacons. http://www.rhayader.co.uk/

Day Six – 40 miles

Rhayader to Brecon. A fairly straightforward ride with no surprises passing through Builth Wells. http://www.builth-wells.co.uk/

Day Seven – 54 miles

Brecon to Cardiff. Now the character of the ride changes following the famous “Taff Trail” through the gentle and beautiful scenery of the Brecon Beacons and into the industrial ghosts of the Welsh valleys. Facilities to clean your bikes and shower before you head home will be available as well as transport to Cardiff central train station or Cardiff international airport. http://www.breconbeacons.org/

Note: Pedal Power can also tailor the trip to your requirements either taking longer or shorter with a variety of routes available.
