About Cardiff

Many people only think of Cardiff in terms of the Industrial Revolution; and whilst it was the coal exporting capital of the world that created vast fortunes, its history goes back thousands of years before this as the Tinkinswood Burial Chamber shows. It was also home to Celtic saints like Dyfrig, Teilo and Cyfeilog, to the Second Augustan Legion where Cardiff Castle now stands, to Vikings, to Norman lords, as prison to the eldest son of William the Conqueror and to pirates like Captain Henry Morgan.
