Before
the Paralympics Mark said: “I feel hugely honoured and proud to be selected for
my first Paralympic Games. It has been an incredible journey for me,
from the hospital bed to now making the team, and I have a lot of
people to thank for their support. Being selected feels amazing but
I can't wait to compete in front of a home crowd in London.”
He certainly justified his selection. He won a Gold and two Silver medals and broke a World Record (and thus a Paralympic record). Not only that but he brought hoe the first UK medal of the games.
What's more, he enjoyed considerable success at the National Track Championships in Manchester in the weeks following the games. He has won the following laurels since the start of the Games:
